    Hydraulic pump is the power component of hydraulic system. It is driven by engine or motor. It sucks oil from the hydraulic tank to form pressure oil to be discharged and sent to the actuator. Hydraulic pumps are divided into gear pumps, plunger pumps, vane pumps and screw pumps according to their structure.


    A hydraulic component that provides pressurized liquid for hydraulic transmission is a kind of pump. Its function is to convert the mechanical energy of power engines (such as motors and internal combustion engines) into the pressure energy of liquids. There are many factors affecting the service life of hydraulic pumps, besides the design and manufacture of pumps themselves, there are also some factors related to the selection of pump components (such as coupling, oil filter, etc.) and the operation during commissioning. The working principle of the hydraulic pump is that the movement brings about the change of the volume of the pump chamber, thus compressing the fluid to make the fluid have pressure energy.     Types of common hydraulic pumps:


    1. According to whether the flow rate can be adjusted, it can be divided into variable pump and quantitative pump. The output flow can be adjusted according to the need is called variable pump, and the flow can not be regulated is called quantitative pump.


    2. According to the common pump structure in hydraulic system, it can be divided into three types: gear pump, vane pump and plunger pump.


    Gear pump: small size, simple structure, less strict requirements for oil cleanliness, cheaper construction; but the pump shaft is subject to unbalanced force, serious wear and leakage.


    Vane pump: divided into double-acting vane pump and single-acting vane pump. This kind of pump has the advantages of uniform flow, smooth operation, low noise, higher working pressure and volume efficiency than gear pump, and more complex structure than gear pump.


    Plunger pump: high volume efficiency, small leakage, can work under high pressure, mostly used in high-power hydraulic system; but the structure is complex, material and processing accuracy requirements are high, the cost is high, and the cleanliness of oil requirements are high.


    Plunger pumps are usually used when gear pumps and vane pumps cannot meet the requirements. There are also other forms of hydraulic pumps, such as screw pumps, but the application is not as common as the above three.
